Gracious and Wise

In a world full of opinions, right-fighters, information and misinformation these verses leapt off the pages for me this morning.

As Christ Followers, we are not supposed to be silent about what we believe – or more importantly, WHY we believe it – but there are some strong admonitions about being wise, full of grace, gentle, and cunning when opening our mouth.

There are tons of verses about making sure your life backs up what you say you believe, but this morning as I was praying, the Lord asked me some really hard questions, and I thought I would share them. Maybe they will help you like they helped me.

I encourage you not to hurry past them. Write them down, pray over them, then write down your answers. There is power in writing things down!

Colossians 4:5-6 Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversations be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

QUESTIONS:

  1. In what ways do I live unwisely? Among non-believers and in private?
  2. Are there certain situations when I am more likely to be unwise or make an unwise choice?
  3. How can I be more aware when those situations arise?
  4. In what way has my speech been ungracious or unattractive?
  5. Are there certain situations when I am more likely to respond in an ungracious or unattractive way?
  6. How can I be more aware of those times, and respond correctly instead?
